KILLER BEES HAVE MASCOT...NEEDS NAME! FLAMINGO POOLS TO ASSIST KILLER BEES IN NAMING MASCOT

HIDALGO, TX: July 30, 2003 – The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees introduced their mascot today to the media and to area children at a pep rally held at the McAllen Boys & Girls Club Wednesday afternoon, with thanks to Chip Tech, ltd. and Flamingo Pools.

"We now have an icon for the community," said Killer Bees President and GM Trey Medlock. "We went with a mascot that relates to the children and maintains an identity as a pesky character. Our mascot will be a fixture in the community and our goal is to have him involved in as many community and education related functions as possible all year round."

The Killer Bees mascot will be a killer bee, which resembles the team logo, wearing a Killer Bees jersey with the Chip Tech logo on the back. Scollon Productions, Inc., a White Rock, South Carolina company that has produced Barney and many other well known character costumes for the Cartoon Network, Warner Brothers, and Universal Studios, created and produced the Killer Bees mascot. The fury kid-friendly Killer Bee was introduced to a group of kids at the McAllen Boys & Girls Club who threw a pep rally for the mascot's arrival. Flamingo Pools mascot Ferny helped raise the stage curtain to introduce the Killer Bees mascot and then the Killer Bee gave a letter to the podium for Trey Medlock to read. The letter said that the Killer Bee is happy to be home in the Valley and that he needs folks in the Valley to assist in choosing his name.

At this time, people are encouraged to log onto the Killer Bees Official Webpage (www.killerbeehockey.com) and register a name for the Bees new mascot by selecting the "Flamingo Pools Name the Killer Bees Mascot Contest" link. Registration entry forms will also be available at Flamingo Pools located at 721 Dove Ave. in McAllen or by logging onto their homepage (www.flamingo-pools.com). Entrees may be submitted until 5 PM Friday August, 15th and the winning selection will be announced August 19th. A lucky individual that registers the eventual new name will win a 15 foot Eclipse above ground pool from Flamingo Pools.
