Heidinger's five assists earns NAHL Offensive Player of the Week

Published on February 23, 2005 under North American Hockey League (NAHL) News Release

The Bozeman IceDogs scored six goals on the weekend's play, and Buffalo, New York native Josh Heidinger assisted on five of them, good enough to be selected as Sher-wood NAHL Offensive Player of the Week for Week 20 of the season. In defeating Helena 3-2 on Friday, Heidinger twice set up power play goals that tied the game in the second period, keeping victory with reach until the IceDogs won it with a Nick Biondo goal in the third -- the only goal of the weekend he did not set up. The next night, after Billings pulled away to a 3-0 lead, Bozeman's leading scorer set up two more second period power play goals to bring the IceDogs to within one. When Billings tallied to make it 4-2 in the third, Heidinger again set up an even strength goal to keep his team in the hunt, only to have Billings score once more and win the game 5-3.

Runners-up: Andrew Olson, Minnesota, scored all four of his teams goals on the weekend; Jason Weeks, Texarkana, had two goals, both game winners and two assists in his team's two victories.

Also nominated: R.G. Flath, Soo; Jeff Gumaer, Springfield Jr. Blues; Owen Meyer, Youngstown; Karl Sellan, Texas; Brandon Vossberg, Santa Fe.
