Connecticut Whale News Release
Northford, CT - Heather Linstad will return to the Connecticut Whale as head coach for the 2016-17 season, General Manager Lisa Giovanelli announced Wednesday.
"I am very excited to work with Lisa Giovanelli to build a winning tradition with the Connecticut Whale," said Linstad. "The goal is to build a cohesive group of staff and players, while each and every day focusing on being the best we can be."
"Coaching is an opportunity to do what I love and to help grow the game," she continued. "I am excited to be back on the bench for a full season."
Connecticut finished last season in second place with a 13-5-0 record, but were bumped from the Isobel Cup playoffs by the Buffalo Beauts in the first round.
Linstad, who previously coached the Northeastern and University of Connecticut women's hockey teams, will be joined on the bench by Giovanelli. Giovanelli returns this upcoming season as assistant coach while simultaneously serving as the team's GM.
"I'm very honored and excited to continue as assistant coach and to add the role of GM for this upcoming season," said Giovanelli.
