Arizona Heat News Release

TUCSON, ARIZ - The Arizona Heat completed a series sweep of the Dominican Republic by scoring early and often. Leslie Wolfe picked up her fourth win of the season, going five strong innings and allowing only one run. The Heat offense pounded out 16 hits on its way to a 10-1 win.

Wolfe squared off against Missy Penna for the second time this series, and once again came out on top. She struck out four and did not walk a batter. Celena Velasquez came in to throw two perfect innings in relief, striking out three. Penna threw a complete game in a loss on Friday, but was chased out after only two innings tonight. She allowed nine runs - eight earned - on nine hits. Luisa Nunez came in to throw the final four innings in defeat.

The Heat did not waste anytime getting on the board, scoring three runs in the first inning. Autumn Champion led off with a single and advanced to third when the ball got passed the first baseman. She would score two batters later when Catalina Morris reached on another error. The Heat would also add a run on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly to go up 3-0.

Arizona was back at it in the second, adding two more runs on an RBI single by Champion and RBI triple by Morris. The third inning was much of the same, with the Heat scoring five more runs and taking a 10-0 lead. The first five batters of the inning singled. Jackie Coburn's single brought home two and LaDonia Hughes drove in one as well. Champion's RBI groundout and Crystal Farley's double capped off the scoring.

The Dominican Republic scored their lone run in the fourth on a pair of singles by Luisa Nunez and Alodia Aquino.

Shana Easley, a late edition to the starting lineup and Kaleo Eldredge collected three hits a piece to pace the Heat attack. Four Heat batters picked up two hits, with Autumn Champion, Jackie Coburn and Catalina Morris each adding a pair of RBIs. Eight of the nine starters picked up at least one hit.

Luisa Nunez delivered two of the Dominican's four hits on the night.

The Heat are off to Chicago for a four game series against the Bandits starting on Thursday Night. Fans can listen to the games on the Bandits webcast located on their homepage, www.chicagobandits.com.
