Sky Blue FC News Release
Harrison, N.J. Sky Blue FC Head Coach Freya Coombe has named Becki Tweed as the team's newest assistant coach. She joins Coombe, Assistant Coach Rebecca ("Becca") Moros, Goalkeeper Coach Dean O'Leary, High Performance Coach Philip Congleton, and Technical Advisor Marcia McDermott.
"I am really excited and grateful to be part of such a great club and group of people," said Tweed. "I would like to thank Freya [Coombe] for supporting me and providing this opportunity. I'm excited for the bright future ahead here with Sky Blue."
Tweed has spent the past several years helping develop players throughout the New Jersey area. Before joining the Sky Blue staff, she coached multiple teams within the girls' academy at STA in Morristown. Tweed also worked previously as an assistant coach for Monmouth University's women's soccer program, helping guide the team to a conference championship.
On the field, Tweed played professionally in England with Millwall and Bristol City. She then took her career to the United States, where she played several years with the Jersey Blues and Millburn Magic in the WPSL.
"I am thrilled to welcome Becki to the Sky Blue FC coaching staff formally," said Head Coach Coombe. "She has made a great contribution to the coaching environment and has been well-received by players and staff alike. It's fantastic that we can welcome another female coach to the league."
Tweed's experience as both a coach and a player will be an asset to the club as it prepares for the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup. Sky Blue will begin the tournament on June 30 against the OL Reign with all preliminary-round games being broadcast live on CBS All Access.
