Hayley Moore Named Boston Pride President

Boston Pride owner Miles Arnone announced today the hiring of Hayley Moore as team President. The 33-year-old Moore, a former college and pro player who was the Pride's general manager when they won the Isobel Cup in the NWHL's first season, has spent the last two and a half years as the league's Deputy Commissioner.
"Hayley Moore is one of the most respected people in women's hockey today, and the Boston Pride organization is fortunate to have someone with her experience and strong business acumen serving as our top executive," said Arnone, who acquired the club from the NWHL on Sept. 17. "With her infectious enthusiasm, commitment to women's hockey, and her strong relationships in the community, with the staff, and with the players, Hayley is the perfect person to lead the commercial and hockey operations of the Pride."
Moore becomes the third female president of a major professional hockey team in the U.S., following in the footsteps of Marguerite Norris-Riker, who was President of the Detroit Red Wings in the 1950s, and Kim Pegula of the Buffalo Sabres.
"It is an honor to find myself back home with the Pride during this incredibly pivotal time for the NWHL and women's hockey," said Moore, who was raised in Wakefield, Mass. and today resides in Boston. "Miles Arnone and his partners have an extraordinary vision for this team, they believe in what we have built, and they are eager to take it to new heights. As a management team, the Pride ownership and staff intend to build the blueprint for an independently owned and operated NWHL club. We will create an industry standard for professional women's hockey."
The NWHL's Deputy Commissioner and director of player development since May of 2017, Moore played an invaluable role as the league experienced successive seasons of significant growth. She was the league's liaison to the five teams, overseeing staff appointments, player development, offseason contract signings, and the draft, among many other items. Moore built the NWHL's relationships with national governing bodies and collegiate hockey programs. She developed youth hockey initiatives and special events like Team NWHL's two-game exhibition series in 2018 against the U.S. National Team before Team USA won the gold medal at the Olympics.
For the first two years of the NWHL, Moore served as general manager of the Boston Pride, who won the Isobel Cup in 2016 and were a finalist in 2017. The team had a combined regular season record of 30-4-1 in Moore's tenure as GM. Moore has also been the director of women's and girls' hockey for the Boston-based East Coast Wizards for the last six years.
A four-year player at Brown between 2004-2008, Moore averaged more than a point-per-game for her career, with 69 goals and 64 assists for 133 points in 123 games. She also played for the CWHL's Boston Blades in 2010-11. Moore was an assistant coach at Harvard from 2012-2014. She was a Skills Coach at USA Hockey National Development Camps in 2014, 2015 and 2017, and in 2018 served as an On-Ice Director.
"This is a day of celebration for all of us in women's hockey who know what Hayley Moore means to the game and understand what an extraordinary person, leader, and friend she is," said NWHL Commissioner Dani Rylan. "While Hayley is departing the league office, we are filled with joy because she is moving into a crucial position with our club in her hometown, with an ownership group that will collaborate with her in making a profound impact on professional women's hockey. Personally, I love Hayls so much and I'm extremely proud of her. Professionally, I have no doubt that she is going to change the game as the President of the Boston Pride."
Boston opens the season on Saturday on the road against the Riveters. The Pride's home opener is on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. against Buffalo at Warrior Ice Arena.
