Hawks Take Down Rebels

JOHNSTOWN, Penn. - The Tomahawks battled the Rebels in a rivalry affair this Valentine's Day on RED Out Night, sponsored by HealthCare First Credit Union.

The Tomahawks started the scoring with a RED HOT goal from Pavel Kharin, assists to Spencer DenBeste and Jack Therrien. This is DenBeste's first game back after being on injured reserve for multiple games. With only a total of 15 shots on goal between both teams, the Rebels took 9 of those shots but found zero success and head to the locker room scoreless, trailing the Tomahawks 1-0.

The rivalry heated up in the second period, with Jamestown fighting back. Six minutes into the period, flying solo, Jordan Cormier scored his 8th goal of the season. Carter Korpi gives the Rebels their second goal of the night with no assist. The roles reverse at the end of the second period and the Tomahawks head to the locker room trailing the Rebels 2-1.

Tomahawks' top goal scorer Christian Gorscak scored his 20th goal of the season, assist to Max Kouznetsov and Tristan Poissant. With the score then tied and tensions rising between teams, Bennett Stockdale grabbed the lead for Johnstowns with less than 6 minutes remaining in the game.

The rivalry affair between Johnstown and Jamestown ended with a score 3-2, Johnstown taking the win.

Looking Ahead:

February 17th and 18th, A total of six Tomahawks players were selected to take place in the 2020 NAHL Top Prospect Tournament: #17 Noah Basarab, #19 Pavel Kharin, #25 Bennett Stockdale, #30 David Tomeo, #16 Christian Gorscak and #91 Max Kouznetsov.

The team gets an off weekend February 21st and 22nd. Many of the players will be traveling home to visit with their families.

The Hawks are back in action March 2nd and 3rd! Monday, March 2nd, During this unusually timed home-stand, Johnstown will battle it out with Maine. On this night, we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday. Kids from area school districts will be able to be a part of some seussically-fun filled activities. Tuesday, March 3rd, thanks to sponsor of Cambria Vet Care, bring your furry, four-legged friend to Pucks and Paws Night and 'bark' on the Tomahawks as they keep the weekday series against Maine rolling. No need to purchase a ticket for your dog, a simple $5 donation for each pet will be collected by The Humane Society of Cambria County.
