Daytona Beach Hawgs News Release
LAKELAND, Fla. Based on the enthusiasm of the fan base and the sponsorship support the Daytona Beach Hawgs of the National Indoor Football League will make their home again in the beach-front city by the Atlantic, according to Anthony J. Pewonski, president of Centurion Sports Management.
We are encouraged by this seasons support and we will be back in the area for 2006, Mr. Pewonski said of the Hawgs, who currently stand 7-3, with four road games left to finish the 2005 regular season. I can see us with a real future here.
The Hawgs management will negotiate a new lease with the Ocean Center and will also be looking to build its own facility for games, according to Mr. Pewonski.
Mr. Pewonski will concentrate marketing efforts in Daytona Beach. We (the organization) feel we can expand in the areas of sponsorship and season ticket sales.
The Hawgs franchise was brought to Daytona Beach because of the arena availability and the potential the citizens of the area brought in their thirst for football.
The team has averaged more than 2,200 a game in the Ocean Center. Mr. Pewonski figures with a little more promotion, the word will get around about how exciting indoor football really has become.
I have to say the Ocean Center is a great venue, Mr. Pewonski said. However there is a possibility we could build our own building in the near future. This would provide another arena in the area to support a countless number of events.
Centurion Sports Management also provides administration for the Lakeland ThunderBolts, the Kissimmee Kreatures and the Dayton Warbirds of the NIFL.
