DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The training camp's almost over, and the Daytona Beach Hawgs are beginning to settle in to the routine that is football season ... if an indoor football season can be routine, that is.

"It's time to play,'' said Head Coach/General Manager Ervin Bryson. "It's an exciting time for us, and I'm hoping it carries over to our fans as well."

The Hawgs open their inaugural National Indoor Football League campaign Saturday on the road against the Lakeland Thunderbolts. Kickoff at Ray Lewis Field in the Lakeland Center is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

"It'd be great to see a lot of orange and black over there and spoil things for Lakeland,'' Bryson. "Hey, if Ron Zook can spoil the debut of Bobby Bowden Field at Florida State, then we can do the same for Ray Lewis."

Tickets are available by calling the Lakeland Center at (863) 834-8100 or call the Thunderbolts' office at (863) 687-8110.

Fans unable to attend the game can listen to all the action on WSBB (1230 AM) – the home of Daytona Beach Hawgs Gameday presented by TUI Business Machines – at 7 p.m. Dr. Pete Wakeman and Kerry Kramer will handle the broadcasting duties. Listen to WSBB on Tuesday for the TUI Business Machines Coach Ervin Bryson Show at Daytona Lagoon at 5 p.m., hosted by Hawgs Director of Communications Dan Ryan.

The routine for Hawgs players begins Friday with the pre-game meal at Bubba Gump's in Ocean Walk Village, where the team will eat all 14 weeks during the regular season.

"Bubba Gump's has gone out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel part of the community,'' Bryson said.

The team will leave for Lakeland from the Ocean Center Saturday afternoon.

On Tuesday, fans can get a preview of a Hawgs home game when the team holds its first Ocean Center practice at 6 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
