Daytona Beach Hawgs News Release
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Ocean Center has become "Hawg Heaven." The Daytona Beach Hawgs posted another convincing victory in the friendly confines of their home arena Monday night, this time pounding a weary Kissimmee Kreature squad 60-19. Brad Lee rushed for 91 yards and four touchdowns, and Oscar Davenport threw for 124 yards and three scores as Hawgs improved to 3-1. Daytona Beach has won its two home games by a combined score of 114-19.
Kissimmee, playing its second game in 48 hours, slipped to 1-4 with its second loss to the Hawgs this season.
The Hawgs' offense scored on its first eight possessions while its defense forced five Kissimmee turnovers. Jarraud Bell registered two interceptions, while Micah Simmons continued to lead the National Indoor Football League in picks by posting his fifth of the season. Bobby Bass also had an interception.
Trailing 7-6, Daytona Beach took control when Simmons forced Kissimmee running back Andreal Curry to fumble and John Bowman scooped up the ball for a 10-yard return.
Five plays later, Lee burst in from the one to start a 22-point Hawg outburst in the second quarter. The Hawgs extended their lead to 47-7 early in the fourth quarter.
Lucas Green and Robert Bailey each scored twice for the Hawgs, with Bailey's second score coming on a 46-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter. Bailey finished with six catches for 73 yards and had 92 return yards.
Backup quarterback Isaac Hall added a fourth-quarter score. Lee also had a pair of two-point conversion.
Daytona Beach hosts the Lakeland Thunderbolts (2-2) in a crucial Atlantic South Division next Monday night in the Ocean Center.
