Hartmann Shines In Toros Debut

TUCSON, AZ - The Tucson Toros, (9-5) opened up a three game series against the Edmonton Capitals, (15-11) with a 6-2 win, Friday night.

Pete Hartmann, (1-0), who signed with the Toros earlier in the day, threw seven innings of shutout baseball in his Tucson debut. The veteran lefty also struck out four Edmonton batters and only allowed five total hits in the win.

Jordan Muir and Reid Price combined to throw the final two innings of the game. Muir threw an almost flawless eighth as he only surrendered one hit while Price gave up two runs on three hits in the final inning of the ballgame.

Skip Adams got the Toros' offense started as he opened their half of the first inning with a solo bomb to left. Adams went 3-4 on the day where he also scored two runs and drove in one RBI.

Luis Apodaca, Mayobanex Santana and Junior Spivey each chipped in with a pair of hits. Spivey also drove in a pair of RBI in his 2-4 performance.

The two teams will hook up again tomorrow night, at Hi Corbett field, with a 7:00 pm start, gates open at 6:00 pm.
