Hartmann leads Toros to victory

TUCSON, AZ - The Tucson Toros closed out their three game series with the St. George Roadrunners with an impressive 11-4 win behind an outstanding pitching performance by veteran lefty, Pete Hartmann.

Hartmann improved to 2-0 for the Toros as he threw seven innings in the quality start. On the night, the crafty lefty gave up two runs, on six hits, and he fanned four St. George batters.

Jason Hanna and Brian Daly closed things out, with Hanna throwing the eighth and Daly throwing a flawless ninth.

Offensivley the Toros had a great night as they pounded out 14 hits, including homeruns by Dustin Yount and Jim Rushford. Rushford ended the night going 3-4, scored one run and drove in three, while Yount went 2-4, scored three runs and drove in a pair.

Lino Garcia also hit the ball well as he went 3-4, and drove in one while Luis Apodaca and Junior Spivey chipped in with 2-4 performances.

The Toros will now hit the road as they open up a three game series at Chico tomorrow, which will be followed by a three game set in Yuma that starts on Tuesday.
