Harrisburg Stampede News Release

HARRISBURG, PA (Nov 14, 2013) - The Harrisburg Stampede, the Capital Region's only Professional Indoor Football Team, is proud to announce a new partnership with the CFA Football League to support the young football players in the region.

Stampede standout and 2013 AIF Defensive Player of the Year, Jermaine Thaxton, once donned the uniform of a CFA organization, the Harrisburg Packers. Even Stampede President and General Manager, Marques Colston, wide receiver, New Orleans Saints, has fond memories of playing for two CFA organizations. "The children learn life-long lessons because of the hard work and dedication of the volunteer coaches and staff. My experience as a Harrisburg Packer and Susquehanna Township Indians taught me the importance of teamwork, discipline and dedication" says Colston.

"The partnership makes perfect sense", remarks Joe Cribari, Commissioner of the CFA. The Harrisburg Stampede organization is dedicated to making life better for our youngsters and has shown their dedication on and off the field by partnering with our organization to make the Turnpike Classic the best yet! Our kids are excited to work with and learn from professional football players, right here in our own backyard" says Cribari.

The Stampede will begin a long term partnership with the CFA by sponsoring the 2013 Turnpike Classic. Children from all over the mid-Atlantic region converge on Harrisburg to compete in a series of post season all-star games over two days. This year's Turnpike Classic will take place on Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17 at Landis Field, 4600 Locust lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109.

"We truly feel honored to have the opportunity to work with young athletes and help ensure they learn to be great both on and off the field" says Colston. "Playing football and having an opportunity to work with the children in our community are what it's all about" remarks Colston.
