Harrisburg Stampede Go Coast to Coast for Latest Signings

December 17, 2010 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) - Harrisburg Stampede News Release

HARRISBURG, PA (December 17, 2010) - The long arm of the Harrisburg Stampede's signing efforts extended from coast to coast as Harrisburg inked a prep and college star from southern California, Chris Jordan, and a east coast standout, Brandon Preaster, who drew interest from several Bowl Championship Series (BCS) programs after a stellar high school career.

As a bruising tight end and defensive end for Hawthorne High in Hawthorne, California, Jordan (6'4", 215) earned All-Area and All-League honors for the Cougars while pulling in 49 catches for 863 yards and eight touchdowns.

In 2007 he became an All-Western States Conference performer for East Los Angeles College from his tight end position while tallying 33 receptions, 645 yards and six touchdowns for the Huskies.

"Chris is a big target with real nice speed. We are here to give kids a chance to show what they can do and have a shot at moving up. We are hoping CJ can bring some big catches and TD's to the Stampede," commented Stampede General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski.

Preaster also was a prep standout making his mark with the Montclair High School (New Jersey) Mounties. In 2002 he compiled 1,623 passing yards and 14 touchdown strikes along with 476 yards on the ground and two rushing TDs in leading the Mounties to the New Jersey state championship.

With a state title in hand Preaster generated interest from several BCS schools including Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina State, and Rutgers, before signing with Pitt.

Nowotarski noted, "Brandon is a bundle of positive energy. He's new to us and he has some indoor experience, but he is ready to compete and I look forward to seeing him in camp."

Since his college days Preaster has caught the attention of numerous teams. In 2008 he was invited to The Elite Football Services Inc. National Free Agent Pro Football Combine held in Costa Mesa, California. In attendance were numerous National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL) teams including the Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Montreal Alouettes, New York Giants, and Oakland Raiders.

He also has attended private workouts with the Bengals and Calgary Stampeders.
