Harrisburg Stampede News Release

HARRISBURG, PA (March 3, 2014) - The Harrisburg Stampede and PinnacleHealth have announced their joint partnership for the 2014 today. The goal is to further support the value of athletics in teaching life lessons and promoting healthy lifestyles to children and youth.

The Harrisburg Stampede, now in its eighth season, recently announced that its football operations moved to Giant Center and the team's six home games will be played at PinnacleHealth Field. As part of the partnership with PinnacleHealth, the organizations will work together with the community to address childhood obesity and help children learn about the value of healthy food choices and benefits of physical activity.

"PinnacleHealth understands that in order to lead a healthier lifestyle, a commitment to changing attitudes and behaviors is required. These changes are achieved through awareness and education," states Douglas Dyer, vice president of Marketing for PinnacleHealth. "We are pleased to partner with the Colston family and the Harrisburg Stampede to further our joint mission to promote healthy lifestyles."

New this season is the Eat Smart Play Smart Kids Club, which will offer young Stampede fans a "fan club" type atmosphere, provide unique and exclusive in-game experiences, and also provide literature and information to enhance the heart-healthy messaging. Eat Smart Play Smart, a program of PinnacleHealth, works collaboratively with local organizations to address childhood obesity from multiple perspectives.

"Using the Eat Smart Play Smart brand to connect with the youth attending Stampede home games is an excellent opportunity to connect with the at risk children in our community during one of the area's most exciting sports outing. The children participating will have access to a fun way to learn the benefits of activity and nutrition" says Barbara Terry, Director of Mission Effectiveness for PinnacleHealth.

Marques Colston, Stampede President & General Manager, said that the "team is excited to launch a renovated and rejuvenated brand of championship-caliber football at Giant Center. The ongoing partnership will allow the Stampede organization to reach more children and have a positive impact by emphasizing the value of athletics in teaching life lessons and promoting healthy lifestyles to children and youth."
