Harris and Walker win National Conference award.

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, are pleased to announce that Director of Media and Community Relations Jeff Harris and Assistant Director of Media and Community Relations Mike Walker have been honoured with the 2008 ECHL Media Relations Award for the National Conference.

The award was handed out at the annual ECHL Communication and Marketing Meetings in Las Vegas. The American Conference winner was John Hamel from the Cincinnati Cyclones.

The 2007-08 season concluded Harris's first season with the Salmon Kings. The Calgary native oversees the team's media and community relations department as well as supplying the play-by-play for all Salmon Kings' games. The 36-year-old began his career in media relations with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL in 2006-07 as the team's Assistant Communication Coordinator.

Walker is a Victoria native who is in his second year with the Salmon Kings and first within the media relations department. The 19-year-old was also apart of the broadcast team this season, supplying the colour commentary for all home games. Last season he served as the team's broadcaster and community relations assistant.
