O'Fallon, MO - Bailey, 1, is the official team dog of the River City Rascals and is proud to be celebrating her first birthday on Monday, December 3.

Bailey was born at the Tender Heart Kennels in Silex, Missouri, one year ago and was given the name after a fan vote was held on the River City Rascals website last February. Bailey won with 35% of the total vote.

"She's really growing up," Rascals president Steve Malliet said. "She's just like my kids. Every morning she wakes up and knows to line up at the door at eight o'clock, and out the door they all go to school."

The now one-year old yellow Labrador Retriever has been receiving training at Kennelwood Pet Resorts and last season learned how to bring a basket full of baseballs to the home plate umpire between innings.

"Next season Bailey will also run a victory lap after ballgames and then roll on home plate when she finishes," Malliet continued. "We're also working on her to be able to pick up the bats for one inning and as always she will be greeting the fans on the concourse."

Kari Emmerich is the trainer who handles Bailey at Kennelwood Pet Resorts. The Training Academy at Kennelwood Pet Resorts is designed specifically to give pet parents the insights to help their canine companions become enjoyable, life-long family members.

"She's one of the family that's for sure, but we're going to have to start watching her now as she starts getting into those teenage doggie years," Malliet chuckled.

Bailey can be seen each and every time the Rascals have a home game. Currently, group and season tickets are on sale by calling the Rascals box office at (636) 240-BATS.
