Hansen hired as new general manager

Sioux Falls, SD - The Canaries are proud to announce Matt Hansen, former Director of Corporate Sales for the St. Paul Saints, is joining the team's front office staff, effective immediately. Hansen will take over the role General Manager from John Kuhn, who has been promoted to President.
"I am thrilled to have Matt joining us in Sioux Falls," said Kuhn. "Having worked with him for two years in St. Paul, I know what a valuable asset he can be to an organization. In fact, when I left St. Paul, I wanted to take Matt with me, but the Saints could not let him go."
A year later, Kuhn now gets his wish as Hansen joins the Canaries after spending four seasons with the Saints. The Iowa native started in St. Paul as an intern in 2002. He served as the Saints Director of Promotions in 2003 before being promoted to Director of Corporate Sales for the last two seasons.
"This is a wonderful step in my career," said Hansen. "I am eager to work with this talented staff as we continue to build Canaries baseball into the most fun entertainment experience that Sioux Falls has to offer."
Kuhn's promotion comes after spending one season as General Manager. Under Kuhn's leadership the Canaries increased their turnstile attendance in 2005 by 37%.
Bird Seeds: The Canaries will hold their Second Annual Hot Stove Banquet presented by the Sioux Empire Baseball Association on January 21 at the Ramkota Hotel. New York Yankees legend Bill "Moose" Skowron will be the keynote speaker at the Hot Stove Banquet. ... The Canaries are accepting group outing reservations for the 2006 season.
