March 8, 2003 â The Chicago Rush announced today that it has signed lineman Furnell Hankton to a contract for the remainder of the 2003 season.
Hankton (6-5, 285, LSU) spent the past two seasons with Chicago, appearing in 16 games and recording 18 tackles and 1.5 sacks. A free agent after the 2002 season, Hankton signed with Detroit in January, but was released during training camp.
This week the Rush (2-3) returns home to take on the defending ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats (3-2) Sunday, March 9, at 5 p.m. The game will not be broadcast on television in Chicago, but fans unable to make it to Allstate Arena can follow the game on radio as Tom Dore and John Jurkovic call all the action on ESPN Radio 1000.
Fans wishing to purchase individual game tickets to the San Jose game, or any Rush regular season home game, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212 or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets also may be purchased in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or the Allstate Arena box office.
