Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release
Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC is scheduled to take on league-leader Orlando City Lions on Saturday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET at ESPN Wide World of Sports. This match will be the first of three encounters between the two teams this USL PRO regular season.
The Lions currently hold the top spot in the league rankings, remaining undefeated for all 16 matches played to date. The Hammerheads are entering Saturday's match with a nine-game unbeaten streak and having recorded the least amount of matches of all teams in the league with 12, a minimum of three games less than any opposing team at this point in the season.
The Hammerheads have tallied four draws during their last four matches.
"Currently, Orlando is the team to beat in USL PRO and they are chasing another championship before entering MLS next year," said Wilmington Hammerheads Head Coach David Irving. "We will be making it as difficult as possible like we always do and have done."
The Hammerheads and Lions were originally scheduled to play last week at Legion Stadium for their first meeting of the season, but the match was rescheduled for a later date due to inclement weather in the area caused by Hurricane Arthur.
This weekend's match can be viewed live on the Orlando City Soccer Club's YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/OrlandoCitySC .
Fans in Wilmington are encouraged to join the Hammerheads organization for a live Watch Party on Saturday at Buffalo Wild Wings on Old Eastwood Road to cheer on the team as they play at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Food and drink specials will be available.
