Hammerheads Sign Former Trialist

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC announced today they have signed midfielder Steven Miller for the 2014 USL PRO regular season. Miller was previously on trial with the Hammerheads during preseason before being offered a contract with the club.
Miller attended the New Jersey combine hosted by the Hammerheads at Capelli Sport Center in late February prior to being invited by Head Coach David Irving to join preseason training as a trialist in Wilmington.
"Steven will be a great acquisition to our squad," said Irving. "He has played at a higher level in Europe which furthered his development and will overall be a good signing for the Wilmington Hammerheads this season."
Miller, originally from Ivyland, Pennsylvania, was drafted by Montreal Impact during the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft and played with Blokhus FC of the Danish Second Division in 2013.
"I am incredibly excited and thankful to have been given the opportunity to play for the Hammerheads," said Miller. "Even though I have only been in Wilmington for a short time, I can already tell it is a great place to play and live. Everyone in the organization from the front office to the coaching staff to the players have been great about welcoming me into the club, and I couldn't be happier about being a part of this team. I am really looking forward to helping the team bring a Championship to Wilmington, and I can't wait to kickoff the season in front of our fans on April 5."
A 2011 graduate of Colgate University, Miller finished his senior year with a team-high of 25 points with 12 goals and one assist; three of which were game-winning goals. During his collegiate career Miller tallied an overall record of 27 goals and seven assists.
Wilmington Hammerheads FC will kick off their regular season on Saturday, April 5 at Legion Stadium versus the Harrisburg City Islanders.
