Hammerheads Host Battery for 'Pink Night'

Wilmington, NC - The Wilmington Hammerheads are set to host the Charleston Battery on Friday, August 2, at Legion Stadium before traveling to take on the Dayton Dutch Lions on Sunday, August 4, for their last road match of the regular season.
The Hammerheads (6-11-4) recently experienced a point deduction in league rankings following the play of an "ineligible player" while they were in Pittsburgh two weeks ago, thus placing Wilmington deep in the standings and struggling to find their position in the playoffs.
The Hammerheads welcome the Battery to Legion on Friday for their annual âPink Night' game generated to create breast cancer awareness throughout the community in support of their game day non-profit, the Pink Ribbon Project. The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation's Pink Ribbon Project is a local organization that helps women in the Wilmington, NC area - without insurance or other financial resources - by funding mammography screenings, diagnostics, comfort items and supporting the Healing Arts Network at the Zimmer Cancer Center.
The pink Nike jerseys the Wilmington Hammerheads will be wearing during Friday's match were auctioned off to the highest bidders over a two week online auction that closed on Wednesday. Other items autographed by the 2013 Wilmington Hammerheads, such as a pink Nike soccer ball and a replica of the pink jersey all the players will be wearing, are to be auctioned off during the match.
Suitably, the Battery hosted their âKick for a Cure' match when the Hammerheads traveled to Blackbaud Stadium back in May for their breast cancer organization of choice.
The Hammerheads' final road match in Dayton will be streamed live via UNATION on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. for fans to watch. The Wilmington Hammerheads organization will be hosting their final watch party of the season at Buffalo Wild Wings on Old Eastwood Road for Sunday's match and will recognize the fans that have attended majority of the watch parties, along with other giveaways and raffles.
The Hammerheads are scheduled to play the Dutch Lions at Legion Stadium five days after returning from Dayton on Friday, August 9.
