Hammerheads Announce Preseason Schedule

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC announced their 2015 preseason schedule this afternoon, featuring the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Seoul E-Land FC, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
"More training less games, is the philosophy of this year's preseason," said Wilmington Hammerheads FC Technical Director and Head Coach Carson Porter. "We need meaningful games that will serve as tests of the work we are doing on the practice field. These three games and the spacing between each of them is perfect. We will open up camp and prepare for five days before UNCW, continue training for another four days before Seoul E-Land, and move on to a very focused nine days before hosting UNC. Each of these tests will give the players and staff information that we will put into training as we prepare for the 28th (home opener)."
The Hammerheads will kick off preseason against University of North Carolina-Wilmington on Friday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m. ET at UNCW Soccer Stadium. This match is open to the public free of cost.
The squad will then travel to Cary, North Carolina on Wednesday, March 11 to play Seoul E-Land FC at WakeMed Soccer Park. Seoul E-Land FC is a Seoul, South Korea - based team competing in the K-League and coached by Martin Rennie, formerly of the Carolina RailHawks (NASL) and Vancouver Whitecaps (MLS). Seoul E-Land will be in the U.S. for their preseason. The time is still to be determined for this match.
Wilmington will close out their preseason on Saturday, March 21 as they host University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill at 5:30 p.m. ET at Legion Stadium. This match is open to the public free of cost. Fans who have purchased season tickets for the upcoming season will have the opportunity to pick up their season ticket packages at this match.
"We are really pleased with the preseason and how it has shaped up," said Porter. "Aidan Heaney (UNCW) is a big supporter of what we are doing and we are big supporters of his, so to open up our preseason at UNCW is a great thing. Following that is a really unique and interesting game versus Seoul E-Land that we are very excited for. Seoul E-Land is a member of the K-league and will be a great challenge and a very cool cultural experience for all of us; and of course the UNC program is known for its talented players and Championship teams."
The Hammerheads kick off their 2015 USL PRO regular season on Saturday, March 28 versus the Richmond Kickers at Legion Stadium. All regular season home matches will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET this season.
