Frisco Thunder News Release

FRISCO, Tex. (April 9, 2008) - The "Playmaker" will be the "Coin Tosser" at Sunday's Frisco Thunder game with the Corpus Christi Hammerheads.

NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin will officiate the coin toss for the Intense Football League contest that kicks off at 7:30 p.m. in the DeJa Blue Arena in the Dr Pepper StarCenter.

The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver formed "the Triplets" along with Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith that paced a Cowboys offense that won three Super Bowls in the 1990s.

A first round selection in the 1988 NFL draft, Irvin registered 750 receptions, 11,904 and 65 touchdowns in an career that saw him selected to the Pro Bowl five times and an All-Pro naming three times. He was added to the Cowboys' Ring of Honor in 2005.

Irvin currently hosts the "Michael Irvin Show" on ESPN radio in Dallas in addition to his overseeing his post-football business interests. Thunder owner Jake Reed has been a guest on his show.

"Michael is a great football player and a great friend,'' Reed said. "I appreciate him coming out to our game and the excitement it'll add to the evening."

On the field, the Thunder (4-2) is trying to rebound from a heartbreaking 47-46 loss to Odessa on the final play last week against an undefeated Corpus Christi (3-0) team that features QB Dustin Almond, who played in Frisco last season. Adding to that story line is current Thunder QB Wes Cooper played for the Hammerheads the last two seasons.

This is Frisco's regular season home finale. The team plays its final seven games on the road while renovations to the Dr Pepper Star Center are underway.

"It's a big game," said Reed. "We need everyone's support to get some momentum to take with us on the road."

Tickets start at $10. For more information, contact (972) 731-6968 or visit www.friscothunderifl.com.
