Haley's four-hit night not enough in 10-3 loss Jun 10th 2017, 02:35, by John Vittas

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Jim Haley stroked a career-high four hits Friday but the Florida Fire Frogs put up double digits for the second straight night in a 10-3 defeat over the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

In addition to Haley's career night, Ryan Boldt went 3-for-5 with two doubles as the Stone Crabs put up a dozen hits in the loss.

The Fire Frogs (24-36) got the scoring going right away against Stone Crabs (27-31) starter Brock Burke (0-1). After Anfernee Seymour reached on an infield single, Matt Gonzalez bunted him to second. Two batters later, Carlos Castro chopped one to second. Charlotte second baseman Jim Haley air-mailed the throw to first, allowing Seymour to score and make it 1-0 Florida.

With the same score in the second, Austin Riley walked to start the inning. Two batters later, Jonathan Morales singled him to third. Ray-Patrick Didder then lined a hit to left to score Riley and make it 2-0.

Down two in the bottom of the second, Stone Crabs catcher David Rodriguez walked before advancing to second on a wild pickoff attempt. Angel Moreno then bunted him to third before Rodriguez came around to score on an RBI single from Haley to make it 2-1.

Still down one in the bottom of the fourth, Dalton Kelly led off with a double to deep left. Three batters later, David Olmedo-Barrera pulled a double down the right field line to tie the game at two.

However, the Fire Frogs came right back. After Seymour reached on a bunt hit to start the fifth, Gonzalez bunted a ball right back to Burke on the mound. Burke bobbled and then threw wildly to first, allowing the runners to advance to second and third. Alay Lago then grounded out to score Seymour and give Florida a 3-2 lead. After a Carlos Castro single made it 4-2, Riley socked a two-run homer off the batter's eye in center to make the count 6-2.

Burke allowed six runs (four earned) on nine hits over 4.2 innings in his High-A debut, striking out two and walking one.

With the Stone Crabs still down four in the bottom of the sixth, Olmedo-Barrera clubbed a solo homer to right center, his fourth of the year which made it 6-3.

The Fire Frogs would add four more runs against the Charlotte bullpen to seal their 10-3 win.

The Stone Crabs will try and bounce back Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Eduar Lopez (4-5, 4.02) makes the start for Charlotte against Drew Harrington of Florida.
