June 17, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Atlanta Vision News Release
Gwinnett, GA. Embry Malone, CEO of the ABA's Gwinnett Gwizzlies professional basketball team today announced that Blake Britton-Birdsong has been named Senior Vice President of Operations. Malone stated, "In keeping with the ABA's trend of having extraordinary women in key positions, we are very pleased that Blake has joined us. She is a very talented person and will manage the day-to-day operations."
Malone continued, "Blake has a background as an accountant and handles all of the insurance needs for the Gwizzlies, and as much as anything, has a passion for basketball and is very knowledgable in running a sports franchise. She's a very strong addition to our management team."
Britton-Birdson also brings two additional benefits to the Gwizzlies - her son will be the "Little Gwizzlie" and her daughter will be the "Little Gwizzliette," two team mascots that will add to the fun and interest of this dynamic team scheduled to begin play in November.
