New York Lizards News Release
Garden City, NY (June 9, 2015) - Major League Lacrosse announced today that New York Lizards face-off man Greg "Beast" Gurenlian has been awarded the FOAthlete of the Week for his Week 8 performance against the Florida Launch, presented by the Faceoff Academy.
Gurenlian went 27-for-31 in faceoffs against the Launch with an 87 percent faceoff win performance. This game marks the sixth time this season that he has been awarded the FOAthlete of the Week award. Gurenlian has also received two Coca-Cola Player of the Game awards this season.
"Greg is deserving week in and week out of his accolades. He puts in more time then anyone to perfect his craft, and it shows by his consistently dominating performances against other top-tier faceoff specialists," Lizards Head Coach Joe Spallina commented. "He is a proven leader on the field and hopefully there will be many more accolades to come his way this season."
Among other highlights of the Lizards' 18-11 win over Florida in Week 8, Rob Pannell had a seven-point game with five goals and two assists, and Tommy Palasek also netted five on the evening. There were two four-point performances, which came from Matt Gibson who had three goals and one assist, and Paul Rabil who finished with one goal and three helpers. As the only undefeated team in the MLL thus far, the Lizards host the Charlotte Hounds on June 20th as they look to protect their first place spot. The Lizards will be wearing their pink jerseys to support breast cancer awareness. The first 1,000 fans will receive a special edition t-shirt upon entrance to the stadium.
