San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO â We're into the heart of the off-season now, but the San Diego Gulls are working as hard as ever, maintaining their presence within the community.
They've been all over the county, from Oceanside all the way to Coronado. Here's a list of some of the events the players and staff have been attending.
May 28: Head coach Martin St. Amour, assistant coach Jamie Black, Public Relations Director Jeremy Zager and Account Executive Brad Milovich visited Naval Air Station North Island, located in Coronado. St. Amour and Black gave a presentation to about 150-200 naval officers and sailors, centered on the importance of sports safety.
June 3: St. Amour and Black teed off with 101.5 KGB's "Abromowitz" in their "Free Golf Thursday" at the Riverwalk Golf Course in Fashion Valley. Abromowitz (aka "Bromo") is part of KGB's "Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw" morning show, which can be heard on 101.5 FM Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
June 5: Gulls defenseman Mike Garrow, Zager and Sandy Gull made an appearance in Oceanside for "Summer Explosion 2004." The event, held annually, is a huge inner-city outreach program, coordinated by community ambassadors of Oceanside, a ministry of Ambassador Family Church.
June 12: Former Gulls player and current Vice President Brad Belland, Sandy Gull and a couple of Gulls Girls appeared at the brand-new "Net Carbs Cafe' & Marketplace." During the event, Belland, Sandy and the Gulls Girls helped raffle off a team-signed Gulls jersey and some tickets for the 2004-05 season.
June. 14: All-Star goaltender Trevor Koenig, Zager and Gulls Partner/Sports Arena General Manger Ernie Hahn attended Carmel Creek Elementary School. Koenig spoke to a first-grade class about the game of hockey and the importance of wearing the protective equipment. After his speech, Koenig passed out prizes and autographed pictures to all of the students.
Here's a list of events that the Gulls will be participating in over the next couple of months. (There will be additions to this list so make sure you check out the Gulls' web site (www.sandiegogulls.com) for updates.
June 26: Gulls players (TBD) and staff will be appearing at the "4th Annual Southern Cruisers 4 Kids" Poker Run & Charity Event in Poway. During the event, they will be participating in a raffle, meet-and-greet session and be on-hand for autographs/pictures. The "4th Annual Southern Cruisers 4 Kids" is a scenic ride through the beautiful back roads of East San Diego County. Proceeds will benefit San Diego Children's Hospital.
July 10: Koenig will be appearing as a guest judge at the Gulls Girls' preliminary auditions at the Sports Arena. Other judges include new Fox 6 sports anchor C.S. Keys, a representative from IMG Hockey, members of JMM Productions, former members of the Gulls Girls, representatives from the Gulls organization and professional photographers. July 24: Gulls players (TBD) and staff will be appearing at Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center for its second anniversary celebration, "Party at the Kroc." The players will conduct an on-ice skating and hockey clinic, sign autographs and participate in a raffle.
Aug. 13: Sandy Gull and a couple of Gulls Girls will be appearing at Camp Pendleton, promoting the Gulls' military discount tickets and "Military Challenge Night." For more information on military and group ticket discounts call 619-224-GOAL, ext. 7.
