Greeneville, TN - Following a one hour and fifty minute rain delay, Monday's game vs. the Pulaski Yankees got underway and provided early excitement. Having taken game two on Sunday evening, the Astros looked to keep the ball rolling and win the series vs. the Appalachian League East division-leading Yankees with a victory on Monday night. The Greeneville offense supplied seven hits in the ballgame and was helped out by the seven walks issued by Yankee pitchers.

The Astros got on the board first in the bottom of inning number one thanks to a three run blast from left fielder Brauly Mejia. Mejia, who last homered July 7th at Kingsport, picked up his fifth, sixth, and seventh RBI of the year on the deep fly ball to left. Osvaldo Duarte, who reached base on his fourth double of the season, and Connor Goedert, who reached on a walk, both came in to score.

Greeneville added to their lead in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Yankees starting pitcher Drew Finley walked Hector Roa and Randy Cesar back-to-back to put men on first and second. Pulaski then called in the right-hander Jhon Morban who walked Gabriel Bracamonte on four straight pitches. With the bases loaded, number nine hitter Ford Stainback stepped up to the plate and drilled a line drive through the middle of the infield to score Roa and Cesar, bringing the Astros' lead to 5-0.

The Astros' pitching was phenomenal on Monday night as they limited the Yankees to just three hits in the entire ball game. Erasmo Pinales got the start for the Astros and went for five strong innings, striking out four in the process. Pinales, who has not allowed a run to score since July 2nd, saw his ERA drop to 1.23 on the season with the performance.

The Panamanian Juan Delis entered the game for the Astros in the sixth inning and kept the shutout alive by striking out a pair. His countryman Cristhopher Santamaria took over in the seventh and threw two lights-out innings of baseball, not allowing a single runner to reach base. The right-handed sidearm pitcher Jacob Dorris came into the ballgame in the ninth inning and sealed the deal for the Astros while striking out one of his own.

The Greeneville Astros move into a tie for first place with the Kingsport Mets following the series victory vs. the Yankees. After a league-wide off day on Tuesday, the Astros will hit the road for a three-game series with the Johnson City Cardinals, and will return to Pioneer Park over the weekend to take on the Mets.

On Saturday, July 18th the Astros will host their 5K road race presented by Atmos Energy and Laughlin Memorial Hospital/CVA Heart Institute. That night before the 6:00 PM ball game, there will be a Hometown Heroes Bobblehead giveaway of Astros All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve.
