Goudie Signs Two Year Extension
March 17, 2008 - SPHL (SPHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release
The Richmond Renegades today announced that Head Coach Brian Goudie has signed a two year extension with the Renegades that runs through the 2009 - 2010 season. In addition to his duties as Head Coach, Goudie was also named Director of Hockey Operations.
"I am extremely pleased with what Brian has done with the Renegades this season," stated Allan B. Harvie, Jr., team President and General Manager. "Despite the call-ups, players leaving, injuries and everything else it's amazing that we're even in the playoffs let alone third place. I wanted him to know his job here was secure despite what may happen the rest of the season or in the playoffs"
Goudie took over last summer when Coach John Brophy's contract was not renewed. Despite a slow start, Goudie has guided his Renegades to third place in the SPHL with three games remaining. He also led them to a league record 12 wins in a row despite having his top goalie at the time, and his leading scorer leave for another team.
"I am very excited to be staying with the Renegades for at least the next two years," stated Goudie. We have a great foundation here and the Renegades will be a team to look out for in the future. Allan and I have worked extremely well together this season and I appreciate him offering to re-write and extend my contract well before it needed to be done."
The Renegades have three games remaining in the regular season with the next game this Wednesday night against Fayetteville and then on the road in Fayetteville Friday. They close out the regular season at home against Twin City on Saturday.
It appears that the Renegades first round opponent will likely be the Fayetteville FireAntz. If the Renegades finish third the first game in the series will be in Richmond on Saturday, March 29th with the second game in Fayetteville on Tuesday, April 1st. Should a third game be necessary it will be back in Richmond on Wednesday, April 2nd. If Fayetteville ends up in third the series will start there on Friday, March 28th and come to Richmond Saturday, March 29th. If a third game is necessary it would be in Fayetteville on Tuesday, April 1st.
