Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Having seen at least one George, Andrew and Harry suit up at Canwest Park, Goldeyes fans will now get to see a Ulysses do the same.

Winnipeg manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of pitcher Ulysses Roque (roe-kay), bringing the number of players on the training camp roster to 26, of whom 12 are pitchers.

Roque, 26, arrives after going to spring training with Pensacola of the American Association. A key contributor last season when the Pelicans lost in the deciding game of the league final, he is 5-7 in 45 career appearances with a 4.21 ERA.

As the Goldeyes added Roque to the active roster, they placed Casey Hodges on the Inactive List with elbow problems, making him unavailable for at least 30 days.

Following three days of workouts, Winnipeg returns to game action this weekend when the defending champs from Fargo-Moorhead arrive for the first of two games. The opener is set for Friday at 7 p.m. with game two going at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Great seats for all Goldeyes game start at just $5 and are available at all Ticketmaster locations, including the ballpark box office, by calling 780-3333 or visiting ticketmaster.ca.
