Golden Baseball League Announces 2008 Schedule

(Dublin, CA. November 17, 2007) The Golden Baseball League is pleased to announce the official 2008 schedule as the league prepares for its fourth year of providing minor league baseball and family entertainment to communities in the western United States and Canada.

Running from late May to the end of August, the 88-game schedule will open on Thursday, May 22nd and will conclude with two rounds of playoffs in early September. Eight teams will comprise the GBL during the season, the largest slate of teams since the inaugural 2005 campaign. The schedule includes two new teams in Alberta Canada, the Calgary Vipers and Edmonton Cracker-Cats, who formerly played in the Northern League. Joining the Canadian teams, will be all six of the returning 2007 teams which are the 2007 GBL Champion Chico Outlaws, Reno Silver Sox, Yuma Scorpions, Long Beach Armada, and Orange County Flyers. The League will have its second All-Star game on Tuesday July 15th.

There will be two four team divisions that will play 44 game split seasons with four teams qualifying for the playoffs (1st and 2nd half winners of each division or wildcard teams across the entire league if a team(s) wins both halves):

GBL North:

Calgary Vipers

Chico Outlaws

Edmonton Cracker-Cats

Reno Silver Sox

GBL South:

Long Beach Armada

Orange County Flyers

St. George Roadrunners

Yuma Scorpions
