Gold Sox Sign Arms

Marysville Ca., - The Marysville Gold Sox are proud to announce the signings of six more arms from multiple powerhouse baseball programs across the nation. These signees include Lincoln Clayton, Cole Van Den Helder, Doug Nimura, Noah Sills, Jesus Garcia, and Garrett O'Callaghan. "We are extremely excited to have signed this group of players for the 2017 season and looking forward seeing them perform this summer",Said Michael Mink VP/GM.

Lincoln Clayton, a 5'9, 180lb right handed pitcher and infielder comes to the Gold Sox from Idaho Falls, Idaho. As a four-sport athlete at Bonneville High School, Clayton was an All-Area and All-Conference running back and defensive back. Having ran an 11.4 in the 100m event and a 4.54 in the 40 yard dash Clayton found his way on to play for Salt Lake Community College and now on his way to Brigham Young University. His older brother currently pitches in the Tampa Bay Rays Organization.

"I have heard nothing but great things from Coach Brent Haring out at BYU and I'm looking forward to having an outstanding athlete join us for the summer. He will be a strong two way guy with great speed including a power arm that gets up there at 93 mph. Looking forward to a great summer with him"

Cole Van Den Helder, a 6'1, 205 lb Freshman from San Diego, Ca comes to the gold sox from Pac-12 perennial, The University of Oregon Ducks . As a right handed pitcher from Point Loma High School, Van Den Helder garnered All-Western League Honors posting 40 K's/36.1 innings and a 1.72 ERA his Junior year along with a 1.53 ERA with 74 K's in 55 innings in his senior campaign. His high school baseball coach is also former MLB All-Star pitcher David Wells.

"Cole comes from a very talented Oregon recruiting class put together by Coach Uhlman at U of O. I'm looking forward to having a young PAC-12 arm and strike-thrower join the Gold Sox for the entire summer. "

Doug Nimura, from Lafayette, CA is a 5'7, 170lb Left Handed pitcher from the University of San Diego Toreros. Having played his last two years at Diablo Valley Community College, Nimura posted a 2.37 ERA in 30.1 innings with 31 K's while only surrendering 9 walks.

Coach Correa on Stevens...

"Nimura comes from WCC powerhouse University of San Diego and a very well coached and disciplined team put together by someone I look up to in Coach Rich Hill. I'm excited to have a good lefty arm who will pound the zone and get the Gold Sox some outs this summer."

Noah Sills, a 5'11, 170 lb Left Handed pitcher from Honolulu, HI comes to Marysville out of Alvin Community College in Alvin, Texas. In his sophomore campaign he is currently holding an ERA of 1.82 in 61 innings of work and 58 K's. Sills attended Mid Pacific High School on the island of Oahu and is heading to Lamar University next season.

"It will be great to add on another student-athlete with Hawaii ties and more importantly another Left Handed pitcher to our staff. I know Noah will add great energy and be a force for us this summer."

Jesus Garcia is a 6'3, 195 lb right handed pitcher from San Jacinto, CA. Posting great numbers at Yavapai College, he helped lead his team to the National Junior College World Series and eventual 2016 National Title. Jesus will be headed to Hawaii Pacific University after receiving his AA degree.

"Garcia adds another great experienced arm coming out of powerhouse Yavapai College in Arizona. I'm looking forward to seeing him produce great things for the Gold Sox all summer long."

Garret O'Callaghan is a 6'4, 200 lb Left Handed pitcher and another homegrown talent coming out of Grass Valley, CA. Currently a sophomore at Yuba College and having graduated from Nevada Union High School, O'Callaghan was a two-sport athlete in basketball and Baseball.

"I'm a strong believer in bringing in homegrown talent to join the Marysville Gold Sox and O'Callaghan is a great addition to that list. Adding on another strike throwing Left handed arm will bring us a well balanced staff throughout the summer."
