New York Lizards News Release

Uniondale, NY -- The Long Island Lizards re-acquired attackman Tim Goettelmann from the Denver Outlaws, in a trade that sent 23-year old Chris Cara and a pair of draft picks out west. The Lizards lost Goettelmann, a team captain who has played for Long Island since the league's inception in 2001, in the MLL Expansion Draft earlier this year. Along with Cara, the Outlaws acquire Long Island's two second round draft picks, while the Lizards also get Denver's fourth round selection.

"We were disappointed when we lost Timmy in the MLL Expansion Draft," said Lizards Head Coach Jim Mule. "He's an Original Lizard who has been a very important part of our team and represents everything you want in a player."

Goettelmann was nicknamed "Monster" for his size; which the 6'4" attackman certainly uses to his advantage. Tim holds the MLL record for goals scored in a game, scoring nine goals (on only ten shots) against New Jersey in 2003. In his five years with the Lizards, Goettelmann has scored 131 career goals, an average of 26 per season. Goettelmann (Pronounced: GET-ul-mun) is a graduate of Loyola College, and a native of Manhasset, NY.

"I am really excited to be back where I belong, on Long Island," said Goettelmann. "The Lizards made numerous off-season acquisitions to help bolster our Attack and I look forward to reuniting with the Lizards Family."

Chris Cara, who saw limited action in three games last year, will join the Denver Outlaws, one of four MLL western expansion teams that begin play this summer. Cara scored two goals and one assist in three games in his rookie season. The Lizards drafted Cara out of Bucknell, where he was the school's all-time leading scorer. He is a native of Medford, NY and resides in Manhattan.

Lizards 2006 tickets are available now, with single-game ticket prices as low as $11.50. For more information, contact the Lizards ticket office at 631-424-2606, or visit www.longislandlizards.com/tickets.
