Boston Pride News Release
BOSTON -ÃÂ GoaltenderÃÂ Victoria Hanson, who was a perfect 6-0 in her first season with the Boston Pride - the 2019-20 regular season champions - has re-signed with Boston for the upcoming NWHL season.
"The Boston Pride have built such a special program and fan base, and I am thrilled to be a part of it," said Hanson, who played at Boston University. "It has been exciting to watch the NWHL and the Pride continue to make significant strides during the offseason, and I can't wait to get back on the ice with all the new talent across the league - especially all the impressive young players we have coming to Boston."
Hanson and Lovisa Selander were a near-unbeatable goaltending tandem last season for the Pride. The 5-foot-9 Hanson was victorious in all six of her starts and had a 1.97 GAA and .919 save percentage for the season. Among her top performances were a 19-save shutout in Boston's victory over Connecticut on Nov. 23, and a win in Buffalo on Jan. 4 in which she stopped 26 of 28 shots.
As a senior with BU in 2016-17, the Stoughton, Mass. native started 28 games for the Terriers, finishing the season with a .927 save percentage and 2.37 GAA. Her .935 save percentage in Hockey East play led the league. She was the first BU goaltender to earn Hockey East First-Team honors since 2008, and she was also named a New England Division I All-Star.
After graduating Boston University, Hanson appeared in 20 games in one season with Kurpfalz Ladies of the German Frauen-Bundesliga.
"Bringing Vic back for another season was a top priority for our staff as we built our '20-'21 roster," said Boston GM Karilyn Pilch. "She is a fierce competitor and an excellent technical goalie. Vic will battle to make every save for her teammates and is a true asset to our roster."
