Montreal Impact News Release

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced Tuesday that Spanish coach Gil Orriols Jansana (pronunciation: Gilles Orriolss Djensana) is back with the club as assistant coach and physical performance manager.

Orriols Jansana, 32, had joined the Impact during the winter of 2005-2006, coming up with a physical training plan adapted to the Impact schedule. In August 2006, he then accepted an offer from Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence, in Qatar, where he was physical trainer until last October.

"I'm very happy to be back with the Impact," said Orriols Jansana. "I really enjoyed the three years I spent in Qatar, where I got the opportunity to know a different way to train and to work with people from all around the world. My first stage with the Impact was very short and I'm glad to have a second chance to contribute to the growth of the club. The future of the Impact is very promising."

"Gil (Orriols Jansana) was an asset to the team during his first stay with us," noted Impact technical director Nick De Santis. "His experience acquired with FC Barcelona and in Qatar will be great for the club. He is an excellent addition to our coaching staff."

Orriols Jansana was also physical and high performance coach for FC Barcelona's reserve team (2nd division) and physical training coordinator for FC Barcelona's youth teams (U-9 to U-20), from 2003 to 2005. He holds a Master degree in Sport & Physical Education Sciences, specialized in high performance soccer, from Barcelona University, as well as a Master degree in collective sports from the Institut Nacional d'Educació Física de Catalunya - Byomedic.

Orriols Jansana completes the Impact coaching staff formed of head coach Marc Dos Santos, who signed a two-year deal on November 13, Mauro Biello, named assistant coach last Thursday, and Youssef Dahha, who is the Impact goalkeeper coach since the 2004 season.
