In the eight victories, the Giants allowed a combined total of only five runs. Entering Friday's game at Stockton, San Jose leads the California League with a 2.72 team ERA.
Giants vs. Ports 2008...The Giants and Ports have split their previous six meetings this season. San Jose won two-of-three games at Municipal Stadium, April 14-16 before Stockton claimed two-of-three games at Banner Island Ballpark, April 22-24. Bobby Felmy (.333 AVG, 0 HR, 1 RBi) and Ryan Rohlinger (.292 AVG, 2 HR, 5 RBI) have posted the top individual numbers against the Ports this season. After this series, the clubs will play each other three more times during the First Half in San Jose, May 25-26 and June 1.
Snyder-Pucetas 1-2 Punch...The pitching duo of Ben Snyder and Kevin Pucetas have been an outstanding 1-2 combination in the Giants starting rotation this year. Snyder, who is scheduled to start on Saturday, leads the California League with a sparkling 0.73 ERA (4 ER/49.1 IP). The left-hander has struck out 43 batters compared to just six walks. Snyder beat Stockton on April 15 at Municipal Stadium when he allowed just one run over five innings. Pucetas, who will get the ball on Friday night, is second in the league with a 1.72 ERA. The 23-year old right-hander also has a win versus the Ports this season when he surrendered just two runs in six innings on April 14. The duo are among eight pitchers in the California League (including four San Jose Giants) with a league-high five victories.
Hitting Leaders...Catcher Pablo Sandoval continues to lead the Giants in most offensive categories. Sandoval is tops with a .416 batting average, 18 doubles, seven home runs, 36 RBI and a .730 slugging percentage. He's also scored the most runs (32) and rapped out a team-high 57 hits. Mike Mooney (.347), Andy D'Alessio (.305) and Felmy (.300) are the other regulars also batting over the .300 mark. Meanwhile, outfielders Tyler Graham and Mike McBryde are tops in stolen bases with 19 and 12 respectively. Graham remains on the Disabled List with a strained oblique.
Stockton Ports...The Ports, an affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, enter the series with a 27-14 record. However, Stockton leads the league in runs scored (5.7 per game) and home runs (45). Individually, first baseman Sean Doolittle and DH Chris Carter are tied for the league lead with 11 home runs each. Doolittle also paces the club with a .355 batting average. On the mound, Trevor Cahill, who will start on Monday night, is third in ERA (1.81) and first in strikeouts (62). The former second round draft pick of the Athletics is 1-0 with a 4.09 ERA (5 ER/11.0 IP) in two starts this season versus the Giants.
