GhostRiders vs. Columbus preview

March 27, 2007 - World Indoor Football League 2 (WIFL 2)
Osceola Ghostriders News Release

The Osceola GhostRiders will host the Columbus Lions on Saturday at 7 p.m. at IOA Field at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee. Revenge will be the motif of the night. The Lions knocked off the GhostRiders, 34-31 in Columbus three weeks ago on a last-second field goal; it represents Osceola's only loss of the season.

The Lions have played three close games thus far, beating Osceola on that field goal, and beating the Daytona Beach Thunder on a late touchdown in the opening week of the season. Last week, Columbus lost 49-45 to the Augusta Spartans, creating a three-way tie at the top of the World Indoor Football League standings. Osceola and Augusta are also 2-1, so Saturday's game will also establish first place in the WIFL.

In their last outing, a 57-31 win over the Daytona Beach Thunder on March 18, the GhostRiders saw its best outing from its passing game. Quarterback Brandon Sumner threw for 222 yards and five touchdowns, but more importantly was not intercepted. He spread the wealth as all four wide receivers, James Panui, Lamont Finnie, Darnelius Jones and Luther Huggins all caught TD passes.

The GhostRiders, the GhostRiderettes and mascot Rowdy invite all their female football fans to come out on Saturday, as it will be "Ladies Night" (the first 500 ladies will receive a free flower courtesy of Kissimmee Florist and will also be treated to a "buy one, get one free" ticket special. As well, the first 1,000 kids 17 and under will receive a free sports water bottle courtesy of Nalda Family Chiropractic. All Fans can enter for a chance to "Kick for the Keys" with Saturn of Osceola and drive off in a brand new Saturn Aura.

GhostRiders fans who can't attend the game can hear all of the action with the voice of the GhostRiders, Chris Lewis on the WIFL Internetwork audiocast beginning from the Silver Spurs Arena at 6:45 p.m.

LET'S GET STAT-HAPPY: Through four games, Osceola leads the WIFL in points scored (140) and have surrendered the fewest points (102) ** They're the best at stopping the pass, and at 212 rushing yards, the GhostRiders have more in that department as the rest of the league combined (210) ** Despite playing only five of the GhostRiders' 12 quarters this season, running back Paul Sharpe still leads the league with 102 rushing yards.
