Ghostriders schedule open tryouts for November 12th

[ORLANDO, Fla.] - The Osceola Ghostriders and Head Coach Marquette Smith are pleased to announce the details of the first open tryout for the 2007 season. The tryout will take place on Sunday, November 12 at Champions Sports Complex, located at 6700 Kings Pointe Parkway in Orlando.
Those wanting to tryout can pre-register by sending a $45 registration fee to the Ghostriders office at 3033 Mercy Drive in Orlando. Players can also register on November 12 at Champions starting at 8:00 AM. Registration is $50 on the day of the event and will only be accepted by cash or money order.
Players will be evaluated based on the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, pass skeleton, agility, one-on-one drills and various position specific drills. Those trying out are asked to wear shorts and turf shoes/cleats as no pads or helmets will be used during the tryout. A Ghostriders Tryout Camp T-shirt will be provided.
The Ghostriders signed four players from last year's camp. Andre Raines, Harvey Joiner, Josh Stevens and James Cody all made the team after showcasing their skills at the open tryouts. Head Coach Marquette Smith states, "Most of these guys have the talent, they are just looking for an opportunity to get noticed." Smith continues, "I was fortunate enough to get drafted (by NFL's Carolina Panthers), but a lot of guys slip through the cracks. This open tryout is specifically designed to identify and recruit highly skilled players that other teams have passed on."
Coaches and front office personnel from other indoor football teams including Daytona Beach (WIFL) and Lakeland (AIFA) will be on hand to scout and evaluate talent.
Players are encouraged to call the Ghostriders office at 407-210-2383 or log on to www.ghostridersfootball.com for more information. Players needing overnight lodging are encouraged to stay at the Clarion Heritage Park in Kissimmee, the official host hotel of the Ghostriders.
The Ghostriders will compete in the newly formed World Indoor Football League (WIFL) and will play a fourteen game schedule. The Ghostriders will kick off the 2007 season in February, with all home games played on IOA Field at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee.
