Atlanta Vision News Release
ATLANTA, GA - September 8, 2006 - Atlanta Vision, Atlanta's professional basketball team in Gwinnett County, announces their Open Player Basketball Tryout Camp for the 2006 season on Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th. The upcoming tryout camp will be conducted at the Vision's new home venue, Suwanee Sports Academy and is open to the public. Suwanee Sports Academy is located at 3640 Burnette Road in Suwanee, GA and is a 100,000 square feet facility that features 7 NBA regulation basketball courts making it the largest basketball training center in the country.
"This will be one of the biggest events and greatest opportunities for aspiring athletes," explained Vision owner, Quentin Townsend. "We utilize our tryout camps to identify those that have been overlooked, undervalued, and underutilized. We provide a stage to excel and expose those that have the talent, will, and desire to compete at the next level. Our tryout camp last season produced 10 roster players, 3 starters, and our 2005 MVP."
Tryout camp participants will be exposed to true vital measurements, strength conditioning, invited professional coaches, team owners, trainers, and scouts. Interested players can register directly online and download the Atlanta Vision Tryout Camp application at the team's website, www.theatlantavision.com.
This is the last tryout camp for the 2006 season and early registration is highly recommended. Participants must provide completed application materials, including a $100 registration fee due by Friday, September 15th for an early registration discount. Between September 16th and September 30th, the fee will be $150. After September 30th the walk-up fee is $200 only if spots are still available. Applications can also be picked up at Suwanee Sports Academy.
Atlanta Vision is looking to defend their ABA Divisional Championship Title and expand their roster to invite approximately 25 players to Vet Camp that starts on November 1st. Each tryout camp participant will endure a mock "NBA pre-draft camp" under the watchful eye and direction of NBA veteran and Atlanta Vision General Manager, Dennis Scott. "Our organization is the best place for a basketball player to become a professional," stated Scott, "We are serious about building a championship organization and nurturing talent."
