Gervais-Munger Award Winners Announced

Published on February 12, 2024 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release

The QMJHL is proud to announce the winners of the 2023-2024 Gervais-Munger Award as part of the Hooked on School Days.

The Gervais-Munger Award for Academic Perseverance is presented annually to a player from each QMJHL team who has distinguished himself through his efforts and academic perseverance. The award includes a $500 scholarship from the QMJHL Foundation and a commemorative plaque.

The 2023-24 season marks the eighth year of the partnership between the QMJHL and Hooked on School Days, an initiative of the Réseau québécois pour la réussite éducative, whose spokesperson is Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, a former NFL football player who is now a physician.

This year's tagline is "For a better future, perseverance is always in the present tense".

During this theme week, the League will shine the light on the constant efforts made by players who brilliantly conciliate hockey and their studies by sharing video content under various themes of academic success.

The Commissioner's Office will also be highlighting the teams' educational advisors, who go to great lengths to help student-athletes along the way.
