Columbus Riverdragons News Release

COLUMBUS, GA-The Columbus Riverdragons have announced that former Georgia Bulldog, Ezra Williams, has been signed to a National Basketball Development League Standard Player Contract and will compete in training camp for a regular season roster spot with the team. Williams joins Auburn's Derrick Bird as the Riverdragons allocated players for the 2003-04 season and will participate with the Riverdragons training camp squad starting tomorrow morning, Tuesday, November 11 at the Northside Rec Center in Columbus.

A three-year starter in Athens and two-time All-Southeastern Conference second-team selection, Williams averaged 15.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 41% from the floor and 37% from three-point range during his college career. As a senior in 2002-03, the 6-4, 235 pound shooting guard garnered his second straight All-SEC second-team selection by posting career-highs in scoring (16.6 ppg), field goal percentage (43%), and three-point percentage, in helping lead the Bulldogs to a 19-8 overall record. The Marietta, Ga. native was an Associated Press All-SEC second-team selection during his junior season of 2001-02, posting averages of 16.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

"We are excited to get Ezra into training camp," said Riverdragons Head Coach Jeff Malone. "He had a terrific career at Georgia and we're hoping he can continue to improve at the pro level. We've been looking for help at the shooting guard, so Ezra and Derrick Bird give us solid options that we hope can make an impact this season."

Williams, 23, finished his college career at Georgia 14th all-time on the school's scoring list with 1349 points and became one of only 31 players in Bulldog history to score over 1000 career points. Noted for his durability, Williams started at the shooting guard position over his final 77 games at Georgia and averaged nearly 31 minutes per game.
