Georgia Doom Coaching Staff Changes as Team Prepares for Next Game

May 9, 2018 - American Arena League (AAL)
Georgia Doom News Release

(Macon, GA) - Middle Georgia's arena football team, Georgia Doom, made a major change to its coaching staff last week in efforts to shore up its strategies for the upcoming "Blackout Game" against the Richmond Roughriders.

Georgia Doom CEO, Kevin Adkins, announced that Head Coach & General Manager, Derek Stingley, was released and immediately replaced as Head Coach by Gerald Dockery, who until then had served as the team's Defensive Coordinator. Adkins added that he will assume the role and responsibilities as General Manager of the team.

The "Blackout Game" should be an electrifying event between Georgia Doom and Richmond Roughriders, which is co-owned by recording artist Jim Jones, an original member of hip hop collective "The Diplomats" (also known as "Dipset") and co-CEO of Diplomat Records. Upon joining the team, Jones immediately made the news by publicly offering the then-currently unemployed and controversial former NFL quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Johnny Manziel positions on the team.

Soon thereafter, the Roughriders announced the signing of mixed martial artist and controversial former NFL defensive lineman Greg Hardy, who was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Hardy's 15 sacks in 2013 is currently the Panthers single season franchise record. He also played for the Dallas Cowboys. The "Blackout Game" matchup between Georgia Doom - with players who were formerly on the NFL's Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams athletic squads - and Richmond Roughriders is on Saturday, May 12, at the Macon Coliseum.

Fans who are wearing black Georgia Doom T-shirts will receive a 10% discount on single game tickets. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
