Generals Top Marshals 6-1

June 30, 2014 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL) - Texas Marshals News Release

The Victoria Generals snapped the Texas Marshals three-game winning streak on Sunday night with a 6-1 win in Victoria.

The Marshals got out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Michael Hoard hit a sacrifice fly to score Carson Shaddy. But that would be the only run that the Marshals could push across in the game as Ryan Benitez shut them out the rest of the way. Benitez allowed just five hits and two walks in eight innings and struck out 11 to earn the win.

The Generals responded with six unanswered runs, scoring one in the third, four in the fourth, and one in the eighth.

Ross Vance took the loss for the Marshals as he allowed five runs on 10 hits with two walks and three strikeouts in four innings.

Joe Powell tossed two scoreless innings and Jonathan Lycan added another. Ryan Hill allowed one run on one hit and one walk.

Chase Daughdrill and Mason Mantle had two hits apiece for the Marshals.

With the win, the Generals improve to 20-8 on the season. The Marshals fall to 7-18 with the loss. Only two games remain in the first half of the Texas Collegiate League season. The Marshals will visit the East Texas Pump Jacks on Tuesday and Wednesday nights for a two-game series to wrap up the first. Both games start at 7:05pm.

The Marshals kick-off the second-half with a four game home stand from Thursday-Sunday nights. All games start at 7:05pm at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas except for Friday, July 4th which will start at 5:00pm.

The Marshals will have another addition of The Marshals Coaches Show on Monday night at 7:00pm at Village Burger Bar on Inwood Road. Fans who are interested in being a part of the live audience are invited to come out and join the team, or you can listen live online by visiting
