London Lightning News Release
(LONDON, Ontario) - Canadian shooting guard Garrett Williamson will return to London this season, the Lightning announced Thursday.
"It's great to be back. Coach Kyle has been calling my phone since my season ended in Europe. He's expressed a lot of confidence in me and has shown that he's willing to work with me on different aspects of my game," said Williamson. "I respect Vito and the professionalism of the organization here in London."
During his time with the Lightning in the 2013-2014 season, Williamson averaged 18 points per game and quickly became a fan favourite with his signature dunks. He was named Player of the Week three times that season and was awarded the NBL Canada Canadian Player of the Year.
"Garrett is a core piece to the team. He has proven himself in this league at a high level and I think after his season in Europe, I think he is even better." said head coach Kyle Julius. "I am positive that Garrett will be our best defender and will help us in a multitude of ways - I think he's more mature, he's tougher - and that will generate offense and leadership for us."
As for what Williamson is looking forward to the most: "I can't wait to be back at the Bud playing in front of the best fans in the league."
