Cape Cod, MA - Jesse Felten snapped a 2-2 tie early in the third period to help lift the New York Aviators over the Cape Cod Barons 4-2 on Saturday night in Federal Hockey League action.
The win keeps the A's winning streak alive at 14 games.
The Barons struck first in the opening frame, as Anthony Cosmano picked up his 9th goal of the year on a quick shot that got under the pads of A's net minder Kevin Druce. Then a 1:59 later on the power play, Alex Hager skated the puck end to end, and snapped a shot over the right shoulder of Druce to give Cape Cod a 2-0 lead with 9:49 remaining. New York though, got a late goal from Angelo Serse with 33 seconds left to grab his 8th marker on the year.
KC Timmons found the back of the net for New York in the second period to tie the game up at 2-2 with only 18 seconds remaining. Timmons shot the puck over Peter Skoggard, who was screened on the play, for his 11th marker of the season. Skoggard though, made 20 stops inn the middle frame as the A's could only register one goal.
Serse however, iced the 4-2 victory with an empty net goal to send the Cape Cod crowd home.
Druce grabs his 19th win of the season after stopping 22 shots, while Skoggard is nabbed with the loss despite turning aside 42 New York tries.
New York moves to 25-12-2 on the year, as the Barons drop to 10-15-5.
The Aviators will stay on the road and take on the Danbury Whalers Feb. 10th at the Danbury Ice Arena.

The Fall of the Rome Frenzy Empire
Danbury Whalers Erupt, 6-3, Over Rome
Danbury, Connecticut - It was the "Fall of the Rome Frenzy Empire" at the Danbury Ice Arena Saturday night as the FHL's fifth place team officially ceased operations after the game. Although the Whalers led all the way with four goals from their top scoring line of Chris Seifert (2 goals), Alec Kirschner (goal and 2 assists) and Marty Moucha (a goal), Rome battled through the early part of the third period before watching their hopes slip away.
Danbury jumped out in front early, at the 2:24 mark. Adam Blanchette blasted a shot off Frenzy goalie Eric Luckow and Marty Moucha, following up the play, was there to cash in the rebound. Later Lynn Beedle raced up the length of the ice, crossed in front of the net, getting Luckow to commit, then dumping the puck back in on goal for a 2-0 lead at 13:52.
At 6:51 of the second period the Whalers increased their lead to 3-0 when Devon Guy brought the puck up the left side and setting up Andrew Willock for the score and the Whalers 11th straight unanswered goal going back to the first period against Cape Cod last night. The Frenzy finally found net on Niedert at 10:35, breaking a string of 73:32 shutout minutes in goal by "Nick the Brickwall." One of Niedert's biggest stops of the night came with 4:38 remaining in the period when he made a circus glove save on Rome's point leader Tibor Varga. As the period was winding down, the Whalers top scoring line converted on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity, with Kid Kirschner passing to Chris Seifert for a 4-1 Danbury lead.
Rome did not want to go quietly, coming out of the gate with a quick tally at 1:02, Vincent Nucci from Tony Monte. And all of a sudden at 6:36 it became a one score game, 4-3, when Kyle Roberts beat Niedert on a power play goal. Chris Seifert got the goal back at 11:01 when he split two Rome defenders at the blue line, waltzed in, neatly tucking the puck past Luckow for a 2-goal, 5-3 cushion. Two minutes later with time running out on the Rome empire, saw Kirschner skate in from the right blast a shot of the pipe and batting in his own rebound for a 6-3 Whaler score. In the closing minutes of the game, Whaler General Partner Herm Sorcher told the crowd that the game would be the last for the Frenzy, who ends up the season at 11-28-7. As the last minute ticked off the clock, with things collapsing quickly around them, the Frenzy was penalized for too many men on the ice.
The Whalers are now 16-3-1 at the Danbury Ice Arena.
