Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Philadelphia Soul (5-4) look to carry the momentum from Saturday night's thrilling, last-second, come-from-behind victory into this week's matchup in Washington D.C. against the Washington Valor (1-8). Kickoff is set for 7:00pm this Friday night, June 22nd, at Capital One Arena. The Soul are coming off a thrilling 12-point comeback in the final minute against the Albany Empire, and now find themselves with an outside shot at the number one overall seed heading into the 2018 playoffs.

The quarterback matchup this week will pit Soul QB Shane Austin against Valor QB Arvell Nelson. In Austin's four weeks with the Soul, he has totaled 79 completions on 134 attempts for 990 yards, 22 touchdowns and four interceptions. 10 of Austin's 22 touchdowns came in last week's victory over the Empire. In the three weeks since Nelson has been the trigger man for the Valor, he has recorded 58 completions on 102 attempts for 782 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Keep a look out for the newest Soul receiving star, WR Aaron Wascha, as he totaled a staggering seven touchdowns and 208 yards in last Saturday's game in Albany. In the 2018 season Wascha has recorded 29 receptions for 400 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Soul's previous meeting with the Valor came in Week 9, resulting in a heart-breaking, one-point loss, which marked the first time in franchise history that the Valor had defeated the Soul.

"Last week was a great win for us," said Head Coach Clint Dolezel. "We are going to use that energy to be focused this week and work to bring home another win."

Coming up Next: The Soul are coming home for the last time of the 2018 regular season to face the Baltimore Brigade on Saturday, June 30th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
