Don't Look Back:

Jamestown started off their 2021-22 season with a loss after being shutout by Springfield, 7-0. They quickly turned things around by winning their next two games (4-1 vs. North Iowa, and 5-3 vs. Lone Star). They are currently in third place in the East Division. As for Odessa, they won their season opener only to be brought back to reality by Springfield after they lost a close one to them, 3-1. However, last night the skill of this Jacks roster was on full display as they beat Maryland, 4-2. With both teams looking to end the NAHL Showcase with a record above .500 this should make for a very competitive final matchup.

Down But Not Out:

The Jackalopes are currently tied with Maryland for the most short-handed goals (2) this season. To be able to score short handed is impressive to say the least, but to do it in back-to-back games is rare. Even if the Jacks find themselves down a man on the ice, with their speed on the penalty kill, it is never a full advantage to the opposition. Having this ability to capitalize while down a man makes Odessa a very dangerous threat when it comes to special teams.

No Place Like Home:

After spending nearly, a month in Minnesota, following the conclusion of their game against Jamestown, the team will finally make their way to Odessa, TX. Although, the Jacks will not be home until Oct. 28 when they face Lone Star, starting next week they will start playing teams from their division. Currently Odessa is sitting in second place in the South Division. Although, right behind them are the Wranglers, Rhinos, and Brahmas. All of which have the same record as the Jacks. The South Division though can be very tough to play in. This division has won three of the last four Robertson Cup Championships (Shreveport (2), and Lone Star). The Jacks will play 56 games against South Division teams and every one will be just as important as the next.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Jackalopes (F: #15 - Liam O'hare)

The Barcelona, ESP native is in his second season in the NAHL (40gp, 5g, 7a). The 20-year-old recorded three goals last season for the Jacks in 37 games. The 5'8"-170lb. left-handed forward has seemed to find a new level this season as he is already third in points and tied for second with the most goals. Prior to joining the NAHL, O'hare spent time playing for the New Jersey Jr. Titans in the NAPHL and AYHL. In 2017-18, Liam won the U18 WJC (D2B) Gold Medal and the U20 WJC (D2B) Gold Medal. For the last three games, O'hare has been paired up with Dayne Hoyord and John Perdion. Everything seems to click well when those three players are on the ice. Expect more of the same this morning versus the Rebels.

Rebels (F: #16 - Emerick Nadeau)

Nadeau is in his first season in the NAHL. He earned all four of his points in the Rebels victory over Lone Star. The 6'1"-220lb. left-handed forward played for the Cornwall Colts (CCHL) in 2019-20 totaling 57 games (27g, 19a). He also played for the Brockville Braves (CCHL) a season before that (53gp, 11g, 7a). The 20-year-old is in his final season of junior hockey and looking to finish strong.
