
Game Preview: Soul Look to Outshine Los Angeles

PHILADELPHIA (June 18, 2015) - The Philadelphia Soul look to get back on track this week. The Soul (10-2) will be traveling to Los Angeles to face off against the Kiss (2-9) in Week 13 at the Honda Center Saturday, June 20 at 11 p.m. eastern. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
This will be the first time the Soul face off against the Kiss. The Kiss joined the AFL last season and had a 3-15 record. This past week the Soul traveled to Orlando to face the Predators. Despite a late comeback, the Soul fell short to the Predators, 45-42. Marco Thomas led the Soul receivers with 13 catches for 138 yards and four touchdowns. Ryan McDaniel added five catches for 57 yards and one touchdown. Lonnie Outlaw had five receptions for 66 yards, while Shaun Kauleinamoku chipped in with four receptions for 29 yards. Tommy Taggart added 19 rushing yards and one touchdown. Dan Raudabaugh finished the night by completing 28-of-39 passes for 296 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. Kent Richardson and LaRico Stevenson both led the team with 8.0 total tackles and one interception each. James Romain also added 6.0 total tackles.
The first match-up to look for in the game is Soul DB LaRico Stevenson up against Los Angeles WR Donovan Morgan. So far this season, Stevenson has had 62 total tackles, four interceptions for 45 yards, and four pass break ups. This season, Morgan has recorded 87 receptions for 1291 yards and 26 touchdowns.
The next match-up to look for is the Soul offensive line-Adam Smith, Shannon Breen, and Neal Tivis-up against the Kiss' defensive line. So far this season, the line has worked well together to protect Raudabaugh by allowing only seven quarterback sacks. The Kiss' defense has a total of nine sacks for 50 yards.
The final match-up to keep an eye out for is Soul WRs-Marco Thomas, Shaun Kauleinamoku, and Ryan McDaniel-up against the Kiss' secondary. Thomas leads the Soul WRs with 106 catches for 1248 yards and 28 touchdowns. Combined the wide receivers have a total of 251 catches for 3105 yards and 67 touchdowns. The Kiss' defensive backs have together recorded 85 tackles, six interceptions for 100 yards, 9 pass break ups, and four forced fumbles.
The Soul will head back to Philadelphia to face off against the Tampa Bay Storm in Week 14 on Friday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m. ET on the Rothman Field at the Wells Fargo Center.
