New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Rapidly climbing the Eastern Conference standings courtesy of three straight wins, the New England Revolution aims to make it four in a row when the club closes out its three-game home stand against the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Gillette Stadium. The game will be televised live on TV38 beginning at 7:30 p.m., while WRKO 680 AM will also carry the action.
In light of last weekend's inclement weather, the Revs will hold another Passback collection at this match. The team will accept donations of new or gently-used soccer equipment at the Gillette Stadium gates, and all types of soccer equipment will be accepted, including uniforms, shin guards, balls, cleats, socks, water bottles and goalie gloves. Donations will be accepted between 6:15 p.m. and 8 p.m., with collection locations available at the Bank of America (northwest corner) and Patriot Place (north end) gates. Boston-based organization Soccer1 will receive the items collected during the last two weekends and will distribute them to organizations in the greater Boston area.
The Revs (9-6-6, 33 pts.) have already defeated Real Salt Lake and the San Jose Earthquakes on their current home stand, and they'll look to make it a clean sweep of the three-game stretch with a victory over the Wizards (5-10-6, 21 pts.). New England's current three-game winning streak - which also includes a road victory at Seattle Sounders FC - is the longest active winning streak in the league.
Saturday night's match will be the fourth meeting in all competitions between the Revs and Wizards this season, and will close out the three-game regular-season series. Kansas City has held the upper hand in league action, earning a 3-1 win at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on June 13 and a 0-0 draw at Gillette Stadium on July 11. The clubs also played to a 1-1 draw in SuperLiga 2009 group action on June 24 in Foxborough.
